New Product: BIMtrace
Photo-model differencing delivers similar benefits to traditional reality capture at a small fraction of the time and cost. The goal of construction is to “build to the BIM,” creating a structure that matches the Building Information Model and doing so within schedule and budgetary constraints. BIMtrace compares site photos to the BIM with quick precision, supporting quality control and streamlining workflow.
During the project build, ease of use, speed, and workflow integration often become more important than generating a new, hyper-accurate standalone model. BIMtrace uses iPads and iPhones to capture on-site photos, merging them directly with an Autodesk® Navisworks® model for fast and accurate differencing. No scanning is required, though BIMtrace can provide updates between scan events. Through a guided device calibration process, users compare site photos to the model with pixel-level accuracy. Differences become clear and measurements can be made on the site photo using the model as reference geometry.
Since BIMtrace photo Notes are lightweight JPG images and do not require cloud processing, they can be rapidly shared and analyzed. Integration with construction management applications like Autodesk BIM 360 Field and Procore make the capture and review process even easier. Users process quality issues, cost-change events, and project closeout with supporting BIMtrace measurements attached as part of the workflow; no search for supporting documentation is necessary.
Pericept will demonstrate using BIMtrace Notes at SPAR 3D. Join us and see how to “Build to the BIM” with BIMtrace lightweight reality capture.
