The SPAR3D expo and conference is fast approaching. You don’t have to wait long to hear about the latest developments in 3D technology from the people making it, and the lead-learners already out in the field putting it to work.

But, what presentations do you see? How do you pick? (I work for the company that puts the show on and I don’t know what to see either.) Lucky for you, SPAR’s Bill Emison is here to help. Below, you’ll find Bill’s list of four sessions on hot-as-fire topics in 3D technology–if you see nothing else while you’re at the show, make sure you see these.

1) Autonomous Technologies (Tues. @ 3:30 PM)

The quickly emerging capabilities of autonomous vehicle technologies is featured in this informative and exciting SPAR3D breakout session! This session will provide excellent content about the data acquisition capabilities of two (2) leading sensor manufacturers (Quanergy & AEye) that have opposing technical approaches to support vehicle autonomy. In addition, augmented realty techniques will be presented that can help humans build trust in autonomous vehicles. Expect some fireworks in this session!!

2) Final Day Plenary: Experts View into the Future What¹s Ahead for 3DTechnologies, and Impact on Technology Investments (Thurs. @ 4 PM)

Insightful discussion of future 3D technologies improvements, enhancement s and innovations involving capture systems and related 3D technologies. Discussion topics to include augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR), autonomous vehicles, commercial robotics, additive manufacturing, computer vision, blockchain applications and much more! Led by AEC and technology industry veterans, forward-thinking technologists and commercial vendors. Gain valuable insight into emerging 3D technologies that provide immediate ROI by increasing worker safety and productivity.

3) Process, Power & Utilities (Weds. @ 3:30 PM)

Excellent content offered in this session, which is focused on the application of 3D capture technologies to support a variety of power and utility applications. Presentation topics include using drones to monitor utility infrastructure following a severe weather event, underwater laser scanning of energy infrastructure, and the integration of 3D geospatial technologies to support subsurface utility locating / mapping.

4) Transportation (Tues. @ 3:30 PM)

This session will provide a unique user perspective for the adoption and implementation of various 3D capture technologies to support the transportation sector. Presentation content will focus on data acquisition and integration approaches for railway, roadway and pavement applications. Speakers represent transportation technology experts who have created and developed 3D technology services for a variety of transportation agencies.
