Automated 3D Measurement by Photogrammetry & Laser Triangulation
Photogrammetry is now a well-known and very flexible 3D Measurement Technique with numerous applications in the industry.
Because cameras can be remotely sent almost anywhere, Photogrammetry is especially suitable for inaccessible and/or hazardous environments. Such 3D sensors can be mounted on Remote Operated Vehicles, on Autonomous Underwater Vehicles or on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.
Depending on the application, real-time or quasi real-time results can be required. This paper will describe different approaches to the automation of the data processing and case studies results will be analyzed. A comparison with other measurement technologies will also be made whenever other technologies can technically be applied.
Finally, some on-going and some future developments will be described as well as the expected performances.
